2 Swedish Gardens at Midsummer || Rosendals trädgård & Drottningholm Palace
Переглядів 8394 години тому

Then, by contrast, we visit Drottningholm Palace, a very formal and historic garden, surrounding the palace where the Swedish royal family still live. As midsummer is in the air, you can expect to observe the Swedish mids...

    Is it possible to save a lily that had the stem broken in half in June? It had flower buds on it 😔 I'm zone 6b. Thank you so much for such an informative video!

    • @GardeningatDouentza
      @GardeningatDouentza 13 годин тому

      It all depends on how much of the lily leaves were left! Lilies gain nourishment from their leaves during the summer and this leads to flowering the following year. If your lily has been compromised and lost half its leaves, I recommend a fertiliser to boost the remaining leaves. Fingers crossed for next year!

    I have looked and viewed so many of these and yet they never show the type of hydrangea I have. It is a loge bush with long shoot branches that have white flowers going down the branch. Inside the cluster of flowers are small bead-like circles. It looks like a weeping willing with flowers. By summer the flowers are gone and the small circle has turned into a cluster of deep red beads. What do I own and how do I prune it?

    Hejsan Rachel! Its cold and rough in the winter here but I can assure you that the brambles do just fine! Been tackeling them at the summer house...😅...Most perennial plants do well thanks to a proper snow cover during the coldest season. We'll have to see what the climate change will result in though..things are definitely changing and becoming more erratic. But of course we envy the amazing gardening climate of Ireland...when I had the pleasure to start a garden in co Clare I was amazed at the growing power in just one season...and very little need to water..... Slán, Constantina

    Also like fireweed, considered a weed in Scotland. They grow in cleared open areas. I love them & the bees love them as well. I would feel very welcome if I went to Scotland & found fireweed to welcome me on a stroll in the countryside. It is illegal to plant them my state, but I love the surprise of seeong the plant, walking in more wild country areas.

    I first saw wild tiger lilies growing in wooded areas in the Pacific NW of USA. (Also bleeding hearts and more rarely, lady slippers, that have been illegal to pick or dig up to take home.

    Thank you for such a straightforward information video. I’m a non-gardener who has moved into a new property with a lovely mature garden and I want to do it justice. The plant identifier Apps in combination with fantastic videos such as yours have been a godsend. I’m into my second year now, the first was daunting and a bit overwhelming, but I’ve learned so much in that time and beginning to really get results. Starting to feel I can do this! Thanks again, great info, very much appreciated.

    Question. I'm growing dahlias for the first time and absolutley love them. When I was planting one of the tubers ( in a pot) I noticed it had leafy gall. Since I was curious and also planting in separate pots I decided to not dispose of it and watch it grow. It was the first one to bloom out of about 10 different tubers and the colors are my favorite so far. I'm cutting the massive growth nodules at the base with steril chippers. I know I shouldn't save the tuber for next year and I can't take cuttings but if I cover several blooms to keep the bees from cross pollinating them, will the seeds be capable of producing the same flower without the Gall?

    • @GardeningatDouentza
      @GardeningatDouentza 8 днів тому

      Sorry to hear about your leafy gall. I cannot say whether or not the gall will be transmitted by seed, although I doubt it. I will say however that your dahlia (unless it's a species) will not come true from seed. Double dahlias, for example, always produce offspring that are single from seed.
